The Town of Pierceton is applying for a construction grant funded by the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act (CDBG-CV) program, administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) to improve sidewalk connections on School Street and Third Street. The intent of the project is in response to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure residents have safe social distancing and walkable connections to the Elementary School and Pierceton Park. The Town of Pierceton will hold its second public hearing on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 6:30 PM at 105 W. Walnut St., Pierceton, Indiana, to provide residents an opportunity to hear an update on the project development and grant application.
The Town is seeking to apply for $280,042 of CDBG-CV program funds. The total project cost is estimated at $501,428 to construct 6-foot wide sidewalks on School Street and Third Street. If awarded, approximately 52.1% of the grant award, $145,901.88 will be used to benefit low-to-moderate income individuals on an area wide basis.
The Town of Pierceton is committing $221,386 from its allocated Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (ARPA) funds as its local match.
Interested residents are invited to provide comments regarding the sidewalk improvements either at the public hearing or by prior written statement.
