MILFORD — A driver and their passenger was hospitalized following a head-on collision involving a tanker truck late Monday, Dec. 21 morning just outside Milford.
Milford police and fire departments were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. to a crash near 517 S. Higbee St. A silver Ford Escape traveling south encountered icy conditions while navigating a curve in the roadway, causing the vehicle to lose traction, cross the center line and collide head-on with a Shirk Transport LLC tanker truck.
A damaged tanker truck involved in a head-on collision Monday, Jan. 21 morning is towed. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were totaled.
The driver of the tanker truck was not injured in the crash. The driver and passenger of the SUV was treated at the scene by Milford Fire Department EMS before being transported by ambulance to Goshen Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.
Wrecker services were called in to clear the roadway following the crash. Crouse Wrecker Service removed the wrecked SUV from the scene, while Reicher & Knepp Inc. Wrecker Service provided recovery vehicles to tow the damaged tanker truck.
Traffic in the area was stopped for a period of time as emergency crews worked at the scene and crews removed the vehicles.
