Pursuant to IC 14-33-2-12, the Kosciusko Circuit Court has received a petition for the creation of The Webster and Backwater Lakes Dam of Kosciusko County Conservancy District and in connection therewith has scheduled an initial hearing pursuant to IC 14-33-2-14 to occur on February 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the courtroom of the Kosciusko Circuit Court at 121 N. Lake St, Warsaw, IN 46580.
The purposes of the proposed district are to improve and maintain the quality of Webster Lake through strategies designed to enhance and improve irrigation; developing forests, wildlife areas, park and recreational facilities; drainage, flood prevention and control, preventing the loss of topsoil from injurious water erosion the operation, maintenance, and improvement of works of improvement associated therewith, and storage of water for augmentation of stream flow.
At the hearing, any interested person (including petitioners) will have any opportunity to present to the court documentary evidence and oral testimony relevant to the initial Court determination as required by IC 14-33-2-16. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Court will make a determination as to whether or not the petition should be referred to the Indiana Natural Resource Commission pursuant to IC 14-33-2-17.
In addition to attending the hearing, any interested party may file with the Court prior to the hearing date pertinent information relevant to the Court’s determination pursuant to IC 14-33-2-16 under Case # 43C01-2512-MI-000162.
