INDIANAPOLIS — A 23-year-old female disappeared in the early morning hours of June 24, 1979, and was never seen or heard from again.

On the evening of Saturday, June 23, 1979, Vali Davis and some friends went to Lucifer’s, a popular nightclub located near near 86th Street and Keystone at the Crossing in Indianapolis.

Vali Davis

Lucifer’s was a multi-level venue that featured disco music and dancing.

Davis was last seen sometime between 2-2:30 a.m. in the Lucifer’s parking lot, walking toward her vehicle, a copper brown-colored 1974 Ford Pinto.

Two days later, she was reported missing by her family.

Her car was found to be in the same spot in the parking lot, with the driver’s side door unlocked, but there was no sign of Davis.

Police speculated almost immediately that she had been abducted.

Her family hired a private investigator. They offered a reward for her return. They placed classified ads in newspapers asking for information. In desperation, they consulted with psychics and fortune tellers.

Sadly, both her mother and father passed away without ever knowing what happened to their daughter — and without seeing the perpetrator(s) brought to justice.

Her disappearance remains unsolved but is being treated as a homicide.
