An Atwood firefighter puts out hot spots in the barn.

ETNA GREEN — A barn at the corner of CR 800W and CR 400N was destroyed by a fire today, Jan. 18.

Etna Green Fire Department was notified at 10:34 a.m. of a barn fire at 3975 N. 800W.

Atwood and Nappanee fire departments were called for tanker assist.

Tankers were being refilled in Atwood.

The barn is located on the southwest corner of the intersection. Debris from the fire littered a portion of CR 800N.

County Highway officials were requested to sand the road and county sheriff’s officers were requested for traffic control and motorist were interfering with fire trucks.

According to the Kosciusko County Beacon mapping system, the property is owned by Mennonite Mutual Land Trust to Lynford and Rachel Slabaugh.
